Chelsea, MI, passed away on March 10, 2019 at the Arbor Hospice
Residence in Saline. He was born May 22, 1925 in Duco, Kentucky the son
of Jeff and Minnie (Conley) Porter. Willis served in the US Army from
1943-1953. He married Waltraud (Ritz) in Germany in 1953, and she

ocean, and landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day. He marched across Europe,

Germany surveying the East-West border, which is where he met the love
of his life, Waltraud. He then became a truck mechanic and stayed in
Germany until the army allowed them to be married. After returning to
the US, he moved to Michigan in 1956 and worked at Chelsea Manufacturing
for many years. He studied electronics and owned and operated Porter TV
Sales and Service for 25+ years. He became a computer geek 40 years ago
from his first TI 99/4, and that interest stayed with him for life. He
was a member of the American Legion, as well as the German American Club
of Jackson. He is survived by two children, Rosemarie (Richard) Walker,
of Monroe, MI, and John (Diane) Porter, of Chelsea, MI; two
grandchildren, Alissa Porter and Jesse Porter; great-granddaughter,
Heaven Bliss; and special friend, Anneliese Schubert. In addition to his
wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, and two

will take place at Oak Grove East Cemetery. There will be a memorial
