After returning to the US, he moved to Michigan in 1956 and worked at Chelsea Manufacturing for many years. He studied electronics and owned and operated Porter TV Sales and Service for 25+ years. He became a computer geek 40 years ago from his first TI 99/4, and that interest stayed with him for life. He was a member of the American Legion, as well as the German American Club of Jackson. He is survived by two children, Rosemarie (Richard) Walker, of Monroe, MI, and John (Diane) Porter, of Chelsea, MI; two grandchildren, Alissa Porter and Jesse Porter; great-granddaughter, Heaven Bliss; and special friend, Anneliese Schubert. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, and two sisters.
