Konkle, Marvin Edward 10/16/1929 - 1/3/2018 Ann Arbor Marvin Edward Konkle passed away on January 3, 2018 at his home in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Marv's wife, Carolyn, was by his side as he passed peacefully into the loving hands of the Lord. Marv was born on October 16, 1929 in Van Dyke, Michigan to Emerson and Greta Konkle and grew up in Waterford Township. He attended Pontiac High School and worked for the Pontiac Motor Division. Marv severed his country as a member of the United States Army from 1952-1954 and was stationed in Germany for seventeen months. Upon returning home he again worked for the Pontiac Motor Division for another four years. In 1956 Marv became a police officer for the City of Ann Arbor where he faithfully served the community he loved for 28 years and 3 months; retiring on June 30, 1984. After retirement he was a Washtenaw County Circuit Court bailiff for Judge Henry Colin (1 year) and Judge Patrick Colin (10 years). Marv was also an active member of the First Congregational Church of Ann Arbor for 35 years, the VFW Post No. 423, and the Pittsfield Township Seniors at which he served as a board member for many years. Marv was preceded in death by his mother, Greta Konkle, his father, Emerson Konkle, his three brothers, Darrell, Jim, and Raymond, his aunt, Marie Currie, and his grandson, Daniel Patrick Mays. He is survived by Carolyn, his wife and love of his life for 61 years, his daughters, Robin Mays and Gwen (Chuck) Johnson, his son, Marvin S. (Mary) Konkle, his six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 8, 2018 at Nie Family Funeral Home, 2400 Carpenter Rd., Ann Arbor, from 2-4 pm and 5:30-8 pm. A evening prayer service is scheduled for 7 pm with a VFW service to follow. Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 10:30 am at First Congregation Church of Ann Arbor, 608 E William St. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to First Congregational Church of Ann Arbor, VFW Post 423, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
